I know that it may feel like a long time before Summer 2015, but if you have any inkling that you may be coming to visit the Edinburgh Festivals then please do look at booking accommodation NOW. Not only will you get the choice of all the best places to stay, you’ll save loads of money booking now rather than later.
Below I’ve put together a few tips and ideas on how to save a lot of money on booking accommodation in Edinburgh for the festivals in 2015.
There are a number of festivals running across Edinburgh during July, August and September 2015, so check out where you need to be in the city and look for nearby accommodation. You may not need to be in the city centre.
If city centre room prices are a bit too much for you then be sure to check out accommodation that’s a wee bit further out. Edinburgh has an excellent bus, train and tram transport links that you can whisk you in to the city centre from your hotel in no time at all (Edinburgh is not a big city really) and at a low cost – buy a travel card to save even more money.
If you’re on a limited budget then you can grab a bargain on accommodation by staying at one of the University accommodation sites. During the Summer months whilst Edinburgh students are back at home, the city’s univeristies opne their accommodation doors to city visitors. There have been loads of new student development built in the city centre over the past 5 years, so lots of univeristy accommodation is very modern, spacious, well-served by facilities and private – it’s not all communal living rooms and shared toilets these days, think cool accommodation.
For those looking for more luxurious accommodation I’d suggest looking at a few of the 4 and even 3-star hotels in the city, as well as the 5-star hotels. When you’re busy watching festival shows, enjoying the bars and trying out the food, you may not have time to use all the facilities that a 5-star hotel can offer – gym, full-length pools etc. 4 and 3 star hotels offer luxurious rooms, without paying for all the additional services you may not need.
My number one tip is to book your accommodation now to save money and save time hunting accommodation nearer the date.
