Are you planning a trip up for the Edinburgh Festival? Are you looking for cheap accommodation in or near the city centre? Struggling to find anything?
Don’t worry, there are still some cheap room rates available throughout August in leading local hotels, apartments, and hostels – finding them is the hard part but read on for assistance.
Read my recommendations below and click on the accommodation name to get the lowest rates.
Check out the brilliant 5-Star Hostel Smart City Hostel in the Old Town. This modern property has a cool new bar, cheap restaurant, internet access and loads of facilities you wouldn’t expect from a hostel. Plus, the hostel is a venue for lots of free comedy throughout August so you won’t need to go far to be entertained – about 10 metres from the bar to be exact. Check out their great dorm room rates.
A great and cheap hotel a couple of miles from the city centre is the Victoria Park House Hotel. The hotel has great reviews, a relaxing restaurant (with innovative menu), beer garden and a lively bar. Oh, and free parking too – so drive here, park the car and jump on a bus into town to soak up the festival.
The Links Hotel is another cracking 3-Star hotel near the city centre, within walking distance of all the Fringe fun. This hotel has had a recent major refurb and is looking ultra cool. The hotel has a fine dining restaurant, a comfy bar (with bar menu and loads of TVs for sport), and an outdoor garden for enjoying a cool drink as you look out to the parkland infront of the hotel.
If you are looking for a cheap apartments then take a look at Smart At Iq Hostel Edinburgh (sister property to Smart City Hostel mentioned above) – these modern student apartments become stylish accommodation in the summer for visitors on a budget. The apartments are only a short walk into Edinburgh city centre too.
You may surprised when I recommend this hotel to you as it’s located on the edge of the city near Edinburgh’s business parks, but don’t let that put you off staying at Novotel Hotel Edinburgh Park. This very modern 4-Star hotel with pool, gym, restaurant and free parking entertains high-flying business people during the week and offers great rates for leisure travellers at weekends and during holidays. But the best thing is that the Novotel Hotel Edinburgh Park is two minutes from Edinburgh Park train station. From Edinburgh Park station you will be in the centre of Edinburgh and all the Edinburgh Festival action within 11 minutes – that’s probably quicker than if you stayed near the city centre and got a bus.
So, don’t let the fact that Edinburgh triples in population during August put you off coming to visit us. There are still plenty accommodation deals to be had.
